3-Day Quote Challenge – Day 3

With one last thanks to Ioana, composer, songwriter, and music & piano teacher who writes Music Teacher Lifestyle, I offer my third and final “Musical Quote”. And after that, I hope you’ll give your ears a different adventure by letting them listen to Ioana’s Listening Days.

Sometimes certain lyrics get stuck in your head. The first time I heard this, these words were those lyrics. I’ve linked the official video in the title. Warning: Unless your blood has turned your heart into iron ore, be ready to shed a few tears.

I like to think this is what Gerard Way thought when he broke up the band and crushed my emo soul.

And now, but not currently, and never again, My Chemical Romance, from Black Parade, Cancer:

“And if you say

Goodbye today

I’d ask you to be true,

‘Cause the hardest part of this is leaving you.”

3-Day Quote Challenge – Day 2

Gracious Ioana, composer, songwriter, and music & piano teacher who writes Music Teacher Lifestyle, challenged me to the 3-Day Quote Challenge. How could I say no? To honor her, my theme is “Musical Quotes”.
My favorite classical composer is Ludwig van Beethoven. Energy charges through his creations like
wild horses stampeding across the plains, or
stormy waves breaking over a ship’s bow, or
new love ravaging a tender heart.
His brilliance will not be denied, and people all over the world listen and interpret for themselves.

3-Day Quote Challenge – Day 1

The lovely Ioana, who lives in Bucharest, Romania, has challenged me to the 3-Day Quote Challenge. She is the composer, song writer, and music & piano teacher who  writes Music Teacher Lifestyle.  To honor all Ioana does to make the world more beautiful, my theme is “Musical Quotes”.

Stephen Schwartz has composed many world-famous musicals, captivating our hearts with his ability to touch the Truth in our souls. Wicked, is the real story behind the Witches of Oz, Glinda (soon to become the Good Witch of the North) and Elphaba (destined to become the Wicked Witch of the West). Having been reluctant roommates who became friends, they’ve come to the moment they must go their separate ways.

“For Good” celebrates the power friendship has to make changes in our lives, our hearts, and our selves.

“Who can say if I’ve been changed for the better
But because I knew you…
Because I knew you…

I have been changed for good.” Glinda and Elphaba

With thanks to DailyMusings at A Day in the Life for reminding me of Wicked‘s glorious music.

Song Lyric Sunday, Part 2

How did I not see the theme was movie songs? I hereby offer my favorite for its courageous inspiration, Hoist the Colors from Pirates of the Caribbean, At Word’s End…

Through a Lens Kindly — Week 3

Myopia creeps up on you until one day, you realize you’re squinting at the blackboard just to read the assignment. But because squinting solves your problem, you don’t even think to say anything about it to your parents. They usually have to notice you squinting at something else unless an observant teacher alerts them first.

And you end up with glasses. They make your eyesight great again, but now you have to remember to wear them. You have to make a new habit. I’ve done it. It was hard at first, but the improvement those glasses made to the quality of my life was so great, it wasn’t long before putting them on was a no-brainer.

Living kindly is like that. You have to see the world through a kindness lens, but that doesn’t mean you have to see the world through Rose Colored Glasses.

Ooo! But isn’t the world a pretty place this way?

Song Lyric Sunday 2

Song Lyric Sunday
1968 — If you were in high school, you listened to the Top 40, waiting for your favorite song to come on the radio — probably a little transistor radio about the same size as a deck of cards — and maybe you had a single earpiece in your ear so you wouldn’t bother your parents. It might have looked a lot like this:

Song Lyric Sunday

I just found Song Lyric Sunday through Linda G. Hill, and, although it’s 2:17 am, Monday, I’m still up, so it’s still Sunday to me. Plus, it really is Sunday in Hawaii and all the way to the International Date Line. Good enough.

Finding the Spirit of Kindness

This is Week 2 of the Kindness Challenge.

IMG_4251
Someone left a kindness bouquet for everyone to enjoy.

Like looking for the good — or bad — in people, you will find kindness if you look for it. And often in unlikely places. Who thought to put these furry blooms in a stairway post two days ago? A child or a grownup? It was certainly a deliberate choice. There isn’t even one of these plants close by. Today they weren’t there, but they weren’t scattered on the ground, either. Where do you suppose they are now? In someone’s living room? Lining a bird’s nest? Strung together like a fuzzy crown gracing the head of a three year old Prince or Princess of the Playground?
