A to Z Fiction, Anyone?

How many writers are creating fictional stories for the #AtoZChallenge this year? Are you? Have you come across someone whose stories you’d like to share?

Melanie Atherton Allen is the brilliant and brilliantly hilarious author of Atherton’s Magic Vapour. Her 2017 Reveal has links to her past years’ A-to-Z fictions, but of course you can start with this year’s “A” post, where she begins a murder mystery cleverly derived from disparate illustrations published in Strand Magazine (January 1891 – March 1950).

Her tale is as delightful a treat as any fizzy Victorian phosphate.

Melanie has proposed a Cabal, if you will, of authors who are creating fiction for this year’s challenge, by which she means:

“…that we could display a list of all the fiction-based A to Zs on all of our blogs, and thus engage in the ancient art of Online Cross-Promotion.  Just a thought.” Melanie Atherton Allen, a Truly Unique Voice of Our Time

I am a writer. Let me tell you a story...

  1. Hey Sue. Two years ago I launched into a 26 post flash fiction adventure buoyed by a tag team father /daughter team who provided prompt/photo for each day of the challenge. This year I decided to tie my effort to my expected participation in NaNoWriMo 2017. I am laying out the plot of a new historical fiction novel over my 26 A to Z posts. I’d love to have you stop by.

The Steel Horse Saviors is a story about three civil war veterans who head west in 1866 with their Steam Locomotive to seek their fortune. They encounter a beautiful redhead trying desperately to save her family business that threatens to complicate their plan to escape their past.

  2. Some fiction challenges I’m following, in case you don’t know:
    http://www.shailajav.in
Stories in 100 words, inspired in an oxymoron everyday.

This is a crazy one: every day the author is killed… with a different weapon, from A to Z.

This is really short: a word a day!

This is not exactly fiction. It’s a description of the blogger’s life, six words a day.

  3. A few people are, sadly I don’t know which ones are. I just to a search for “AtoZ” and read as I go. One person is writing an entire story as they go… one letter per day. I can tell you Shweta is for sure 🙂

    1. Of course! I’ve been enjoying them. I will add the link to your “A” post to the list I’m making that I’ll post on all my A to Z posts. Maybe you’ll do the same, and include Atherton’s and mine!
