Having survived valve repair surgery and an experimental cardiac bypass at age 5, three years before it was an accepted medical procedure, Susan grew into the size of her overworked and enlarged heart. Maybe she thought she had enough to give it away -- twice. Both times, she had to retrieve the shattered pieces and puzzle them back together. She thanks her Dad for the only advice of his she ever followed to the letter: "Never get married. Learn to take care of yourself." So of course she is a writer. Susan has co-written a YA SciFi novel, and has three more novels in various stages of evolution. She's had several short stories published in other people's anthologies, some of which were contest-related. Let her tell you a story...

    1. Thank you, Vanessa! I hope you are well, too. I’ve spent February through mid-May — including many all-nighters — building and fitting costumes for Angels in America (Parts 1 and 2), and a production of an hilarious adaptation of Pride and Prejudice. I finally feel as though I’m rejoining society.

    1. Hahaha! Infinitely better!

Hi, Laura! It’s been challenging — writing stories to submit to contests while sewing to help costume three theatrical productions: Angels in America Parts 1 and 2, and now an innovative production of Pride and Prejudice, all while succumbing (for the first time in decades) to what is now almost three weeks of the strangest flu. Non-respiratory and fever-less, it began as a severe, temple-squeezing, top-of-the-head-throbbing headache, joined by bone-deep chills and body aches. It became intestinal on the 12th day. After 6 days of that, I was back to just the headache and occasional chill. But I can mask those recurring symptoms with acetaminophen and ibuprofen, so it can’t be deadly. lol

How about you? I hope you’ve been happy, well, and productive. I’ve saved all your posts I have’t yet visited, and I’m looking forward to reading them when the theatre stuff is complete in early May.

      1. Sounds like an intense but rewarding season for you, Susan. I hope your health issues continue to fade as time passes. Take care, though.
I am doing well, thank you. I am touched you’ve ‘saved all my posts’!
